Jermaine Rodrigues, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Massachusetts 2024

A Taunton man has been sentenced to two years in prison for illegally possessing a firearm, according to a recent court ruling.

Jermaine Rodrigues, 34, was sentenced on November 15, 2024, by U.S. District Court Judge Angel Kelley to two years in prison, followed by three years of supervised release.

Rodrigues was charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm after he was found with two Anderson Manufacturing AM-15, .300 blackout firearms, one of which was equipped with a laser sight and optics affixed to the top rail.

The Taunton and Fall River Police Departments provided valuable assistance in the case, which is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aimed at reducing gun violence and other violent crime.

Rodrigues pleaded guilty to one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm in June 2024, after being indicted by a federal grand jury in July 2023.

Acting United States Attorney Joshua S. Levy and James M. Ferguson, Special Agent in Charge of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives, Boston Field Division, made the announcement.

The case is a prime example of the efforts made by law enforcement agencies to reduce gun violence and make communities safer for everyone.
