Jesús Flores Buenrostro, Homicide, California 2015

FRESNO, Calif. — A man wanted for a 2007 killing in Sahuayo de Morales, Michoacán, has been extradited to Mexico to face justice. Jesús Flores Buenrostro, 36, of California, was ordered to be extradited to Mexico on Tuesday, December 15, 2015.

According to the extradition request submitted by Mexico, Jesús Flores Buenrostro is charged with homicide after allegedly shooting a man on April 30, 2007. The victim was struck twice by the shots and died of his wounds. Jesús Flores Buenrostro, an American citizen, fled to the United States.

The United States Marshals Service arrested Jesús Flores Buenrostro in Kern County in July 2015. On December 15, 2015, following federal court proceedings in Fresno, the court certified his extraditability to Mexico.

“Just as we ask Mexico’s cooperation in extraditing those who violate our laws, that country seeks ours in extraditing those who violate their laws,” said United States Attorney Benjamin B. Wagner. “We have a mutual interest in ensuring that neither country is a safe haven for those fleeing justice in the other.”

This case was handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Daniel Griffin of the Eastern District of California, the Office of International Affairs in the Justice Department’s Criminal Division, and the U.S. Marshals Service.

Jesús Flores Buenrostro is charged with homicide. He will face trial in Mexico for the alleged 2007 killing. The case dates back to April 30, 2007, when Jesús Flores Buenrostro allegedly shot a man in Sahuayo de Morales, Michoacán.

The defendant is currently in Mexico to face justice for the alleged crime. The extradition was ordered on December 15, 2015.
