Hong Kong media mogul Jimmy Lai sentenced to 20 years in prison
A Hong Kong court has sentenced Jimmy Lai, the founder of Next Digital, to 20 years in prison on charges of conspiracy to collude with foreign forces to endanger national security.
The sentencing took place on March 21, 2024, in the West Kowloon Magistrates’ Courts.
Lai, 73, was convicted of conspiracy to collude with foreign forces to endanger national security under the National Security Law introduced in 2020.
The source reports that Lai was also found guilty of inciting subversion and collusion to endanger national security.
