Gun Possession Leads to 2-Year Prison Sentence
In a shocking turn of events, John Casimere, 33, of Lake Charles, was sentenced to two years in prison for possessing a revolver. Despite a domestic violence protection order, Casimere was found to be in possession of an RG Industries .22-caliber revolver on May 28, 2018, at a Lake Charles residence.
The incident occurred when Lake Charles police responded to a domestic disturbance involving a firearm. At the time, Casimere had been previously convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence and was subject to a protection order, which prohibited him from possessing a firearm.
Casimere pleaded guilty to the federal charge on February 8, 2019, and was subsequently sentenced by U.S. District Judge Donald E. Walter. He was also sentenced to three years of supervised release.
The investigation was conducted by the ATF and the Lake Charles Police Department, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Dominic Rossetti prosecuting the case.
