John Justin McCall, Sexual Exploitation of Children, Alabama 2024

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – A Madison County man has been accused of heinous child sex crimes, announced U.S. Attorney Prim F. Escalona in a shocking indictment.

John Justin McCall, a 53-year-old man from Madison, Alabama, has been charged with four counts of sexual exploitation of children and one count of possession of child pornography after a lengthy investigation, according to the indictment.

According to the indictment, on several occasions between May 2023 and October 2023, McCall allegedly coerced and enticed minor children to engage in sexually explicit conduct for the purpose of producing child pornography, and he possessed child pornography. McCall was previously convicted of criminal sexual abuse in two separate cases in Illinois.

The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched by the federal government in May 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. Led by U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to better locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet and to identify and rescue victims.

An indictment contains only charges. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. A Madison County grand jury returned the five-count indictment, which was unsealed after McCall’s arrest.

Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Huntsville, along with the Lamar County Sheriff’s Office in Paris, Texas, Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, Huntsville Police Department, and Madison Police Department, investigated the case. Assistant United States Attorney R. Leann White is prosecuting the case.
