A 34-year-old man from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for distributing methamphetamine.
John Robert Moro, 34, received the prison term after pleading guilty on October 6, 2025, to one count of distribution of a controlled substance.
According to information from the sentencing hearing, Moro sold methamphetamine on two separate occasions in March 2024 to an individual who was working with law enforcement.
Moro was sentenced in Cedar Rapids by United States District Court Chief Judge C.J. Williams to 120 months’ imprisonment. He must also serve a five-year term of supervised release after the prison term.
There is no parole in the federal system.
Moro is being held in the United States Marshal’s custody until he can be transported to a federal prison.
This case is part of the Homeland Security Task Force (HSTF) initiative established by Executive Order 14159, Protecting the American People Against Invasion.
The HSTF is a whole-of-government partnership dedicated to eliminating criminal cartels, foreign gangs, transnational criminal organizations, and human smuggling and trafficking rings operating in the United States and abroad.
