A Great Falls man has been sentenced to 90 months in federal prison for his role in a methamphetamine trafficking operation.
JONATHAN JAMES HENDERSON, a 28-year-old resident of Great Falls, Montana, was sentenced on August 28, 2013, in U.S. District Court in Great Falls.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, HENDERSON pleaded guilty to possession with the intent to distribute methamphetamine. The crime occurred between February and April of 2011 in Cascade County.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Bryan R. Whittaker filed an Offer of Proof, stating that the government would have proved at trial that HENDERSON possessed with the intent to distribute 50 grams or more of a substance containing a detectable amount of methamphetamine, a Schedule II controlled substance.
As a result of his guilty plea, HENDERSON was sentenced to 90 months in prison, a $100 special assessment, and 4 years of supervised release.
It’s worth noting that the federal system does not have parole, and the ‘truth in sentencing’ guidelines dictate that HENDERSON will likely serve the entirety of his sentence. However, he may be eligible for a sentence reduction of up to 15% for good behavior.
The investigation into HENDERSON’s crimes was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
