Bridgeport Heroin Trafficker Sentenced to 5 Years in Federal Prison

A Bridgeport man was sentenced to 60 months in prison for his role in a heroin trafficking operation in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

On December 29, 2016, Jonathan Zayas, 25, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute, and distribution of, 100 grams or more of heroin.

Zayas was arrested on June 7, 2016, along with six other individuals, including Kareem Roseboro, also known as “Swiss,” and Harry Blake, also known as “Harry-O” and “O,” who were also charged with heroin trafficking offenses.

According to court documents, the FBI’s Bridgeport Safe Streets Task Force and the Bridgeport Police Department conducted an investigation into the heroin trafficking operation, which included court-authorized wiretaps, controlled purchases of heroin, and physical surveillance.

The investigation revealed that Roseboro and others used the Stylz Barbershop, located on State Street in Bridgeport, as a hub for their narcotics distribution activity. Zayas regularly purchased heroin from Blake and sold it to his customers in the Bridgeport and Stratford area.

During the investigation, investigators seized multiple “bricks” of heroin, items used in the processing and packaging of heroin, and five firearms. A brick of heroin contains 100 individual dose bags.

Zayas has been detained since his arrest. He was sentenced to 60 months of imprisonment, followed by four years of supervised release, by U.S. District Judge Janet Bond Arterton in New Haven on May 25, 2023.

The case was investigated by the FBI’s Bridgeport Safe Streets Task Force and the Bridgeport Police Department, with the assistance of the Drug Enforcement Administration, Connecticut State Police, Stratford Police Department, Stamford Police Department, and the Trumbull Police Department K-9 Unit. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Alina P. Reynolds and H. Gordon Hall.
