Jorge Antonio Escobar, Child Sexual Abuse Material Receipt, Virginia 2026

In a dark corner of the internet, a predator lurked, preying on the innocence of children. Jorge Antonio Escobar, a 50-year-old Colombian national, was sentenced to eight years in prison and 15 years of supervised release for his heinous crime. The sentence was handed down on April 16, 2026, in a Virginia court.

According to investigators, Escobar had been downloading and saving images and videos of children engaged in sexually explicit conduct, including depictions of prepubescent minors. The investigation, led by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), began in September 2022 after agents identified an IP address linked to Escobar’s residence in Leesburg, Virginia. Escobar admitted to using the BitTorrent peer-to-peer file sharing network to search for images of young girls.

In a shocking display of depravity, Escobar’s actions were uncovered after he pleaded guilty to receipt of child sexual abuse material on December 30, 2025. The case was brought to light through the efforts of the HSI D.C. Field Office and the Northern Virginia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

Assistant Attorney General A. Tysen Duva of the Justice Department’s Criminal Division made the announcement, highlighting the importance of holding perpetrators accountable for their crimes. Trial Attorney Nadia Prinz of the Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, along with Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Lyndi McVey for the Eastern District of Virginia, are prosecuting the case.

As the justice system seeks to bring closure to the victims and their families, Escobar’s sentence serves as a stark reminder of the severity of child exploitation crimes. The case is a grim reminder that the dark web is a breeding ground for predators, and law enforcement agencies must remain vigilant in their pursuit of justice.
