Jorry Harrison, Destruction of U.S. Mail, Louisiana 2025

NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA – In a shocking case of postal misconduct, a former employee has been convicted of destroying U.S. mail.

Jorry Harrison, 38, of Houma, Louisiana, pled guilty on April 24, 2025, to one count of Destruction of Mail, pursuant to Title 18, United States Code, Section 1703(a).

According to court documents, on or about October 25, 2023, Harrison, while employed as a Postal Service employee, unlawfully opened packages intended to be conveyed by mail. He worked on a Small Parcel and Bundle Sorter at the time of the incident.

The case was investigated by the United States Postal Service, Office of the Inspector General. Assistant United States Attorneys Christine Calogero and Duane A. Evans of the General Crimes Unit are in charge of the prosecution.

Harrison faces a maximum of five years imprisonment, a fine of up to $250,000, up to three years of supervised release, and a $100 mandatory special assessment fee at sentencing.

Sentencing in this case is set for July 31, 2025. The court will determine the final sentence at that time.
