Raleigh, NC – In a shocking case of disregard for the law, Jose Alfonso Rodriguez-Garcia, a 54-year-old man from El Salvador, was sentenced to 115 months imprisonment for illegal reentry of an aggravated felon.
According to court records, Rodriguez-Garcia was found in Wake County after being arrested for second-degree forcible rape. This is not his first run-in with the law, having been previously deported ten times, subsequent to multiple convictions, including:
- Burglary
- Receiving stolen property
- Grand theft from a person
- Theft
- Attempt to distribute a controlled substance
- Resisting public officer
- Trespassing
- Posession of controlled substances
- AUTO THEFT
- Evading arrest
- Assault on a female
- Deported alien found in the United States
- Illegal reentry of a previously deported alien
- Illegal reentry by a previously deported aggravated felon
United States Attorney Robert J. Higdon, Jr. stated, ‘For years, Jose Alfonso Rodriguez-Garcia disregarded the laws of the United States having been previously deported ten times and racking up conviction after convictions including assault and narcotics offenses. With this 115-month sentence, the American citizens, and in particular those of the Eastern District, are safer today because it has put a stop to Rodriguez-Garcia’s treating our borders as a revolving door.’
The case was investigated by ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations.
Rodriguez-Garcia will serve his sentence at a federal correctional facility. His exact address is not publicly available.
This is not the first time Rodriguez-Garcia has faced the law. His long history of crimes includes:
- Multiple convictions for assault and narcotics offenses
- Ten previous deportations
Rodriguez-Garcia was sentenced on May 22, 2018, after pleading guilty to the charge of illegal reentry of an aggravated felon. He was indicted on May 3, 2017.
The Eastern District of North Carolina, where the case was heard, is known for its tough stance on immigration and crime. This sentencing is a testament to the dedication of law enforcement agencies in the region.
The public is advised to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
