Defendant Faces Prison for Illegally Reentering the United States
A 34-year-old man from Traer, Iowa, has been sentenced to prison for reentering the United States after being deported, the Grimy Times has learned.
José Solis-Alvarado, a citizen of Mexico, was sentenced to 85 days in federal prison after pleading guilty to one count of illegal reentry into the United States. He was also ordered to serve a one-year term of supervised release after his prison term.
Solis-Alvarado was previously deported in 2010 but reentered the United States without permission. He was arrested on February 4, 2025, at the Benton County Jail on state charges for operating while under the influence.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Adam J. Vander Stoep and was investigated by Enforcement and Removal Operations of the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Solis-Alvarado is being held in the United States Marshal’s custody until he can be turned over to immigration officials. He will serve his prison term at a facility to be determined.
