Joseph Daniel Saucedo, a 26-year-old man from Vista, California, pleaded guilty in federal court to charges of coercing children into sending him naked pictures. He threatened to expose them if they refused to continue. The crime occurred in 2017.
According to the plea agreement, Saucedo posed as a teenage girl, ‘Amy Jennings,’ and began communicating with an 11-year-old boy from Canada and a 16-year-old girl from Florida. At first, the conversations were normal, but then Saucedo sent naked pictures of young girls and asked the boys to communicate with him in return.
The 11-year-old boy refused, but Saucedo threatened to shame him into communicating with him. He posted a photograph of the boy’s house and told him he knew where he lived. Eventually, the boy relented and texted Saucedo, who then communicated with him using FaceTime and displayed his naked front torso.
The 16-year-old girl from Florida also refused Saucedo’s overtures, but he threatened to blackmail her. He pretended to be a modeling agent looking for ‘bikini and nude models’ and offered her a portfolio at no cost. She demurred, but he continued to pressure her, eventually sending her a photo of stacks of money to elicit more naked photographs.
The girl eventually sent him one more photograph in October 2015, but then stopped responding. Saucedo continued to hound her for almost a year, requesting more naked photographs. He even sent her a photo of stacks of money to elicit more naked photographs.
Saucedo demanded that both children continue sending him naked photographs, or he would expose them. The sentencing is scheduled for August 25, 2017, at 9:00 a.m. before U.S. District Judge Janis L. Sammartino. He is charged with Attempted Receipt and Receipt of Images of Minors (Counts One and Two).
