A Fayette County man has admitted to threatening the President and his family, according to a federal court plea.
PITTSBURGH — Joseph H. Savage, 34, pleaded guilty in federal court to charges of threats against the President and the members of the immediate family of the President.
The threats were made in a graphic letter written to the White House on or about Oct. 26, 2012, while Savage was incarcerated and awaiting disposition on state charges.
As a result of the guilty plea, Savage faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and a fine of $500,000.00.
Savage, who is currently incarcerated for state convictions, pleaded guilty to two counts before Senior United States District Judge Maurice B. Cohill, Jr.
Assistant United States Attorney Shardul S. Desai is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government.
The United States Secret Service conducted the investigation that led to the prosecution of Savage.
Judge Cohill scheduled sentencing for June 17, 2015, at 4 p.m. The law provides for a total sentence of 10 years in prison, a fine of $500,000.00, or both.
