Joseph Michael Price, Armed Robbery, Florida 2015

An Orlando man has been sentenced to nine years and nine months in federal prison for aiding and abetting the robbery of a retail store, and aiding and abetting the use and carrying of a firearm during and in relation to that robbery.

Joseph Michael Price (30, Orlando) was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Carlos E. Mendoza in connection with the January 30, 2014, robbery of the CVS store located at 7655 West Colonial Drive in Orlando, Florida.

According to court documents, Price and co-conspirator Darin Leon Givens approached the store wearing masks, where Givens accosted a CVS employee outside the store, grabbed her shoulder, and told her to come with him. The CVS employee took Givens to the store’s office where Price was waiting, banging on the office door, trying to get inside.

Once another CVS employee opened the office door, Price and Givens rushed inside and ordered the employees to fill a bag with money. The robbers then fled with approximately $4,000. This was not the first time the store was robbed by Price and Givens, as they also robbed the same CVS store on January 20, 2014, stealing approximately $2,400.

Price pleaded guilty on March 13, 2015, and was sentenced to nine years and nine months in federal prison, followed by a three-year term of supervision. This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office. It was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Joseph M. Schuster.

Price’s co-conspirator, Darin Leon Givens, was sentenced to nine years in federal prison, followed by three years supervised release, for his participation in an unrelated commercial armed robbery. That case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, and was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Joseph M. Schuster.
