Birmingham, AL – In a shocking turn of events, a convicted felon has been charged with possessing a pipe bomb in Madison County. Joshua Andrew Quillin, 29, has been slapped with a three-count indictment for his alleged involvement in this heinous crime.
According to the indictment, Quillin possessed a pipe bomb on April 23, 2020, in Madison County. The pipe bomb was not registered to him in the National Firearms Registration and Transfer Record, as required by law. This brazen act could have resulted in a devastating outcome, leaving many wondering how this individual was able to evade the law for so long.
U.S. Attorney Jay E. Town has vowed to continue prosecuting violent criminals to the fullest extent of the law, in an effort to keep our communities safe. His words are music to the ears of law-abiding citizens, who are tired of living in fear of these types of crimes.
The ATF has also weighed in on this case, stating that their focus on removing alleged illegal destructive devices from individuals’ hands is reducing the potential for violent crime. This is a welcome development, especially in light of the recent surge in violent crime across the country.
Quillin faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine for possessing a destructive device. As a convicted felon, he is also charged with being a felon in possession of a destructive device, which carries an additional 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Mary Stuart Burrell is prosecuting the case, with the ATF and Huntsville Police Department providing crucial support. It remains to be seen how this case will unfold, but one thing is certain – justice will be served.
Quillin is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. The court will determine his fate, but for now, the people of Madison County can rest a little easier knowing that this individual is being held accountable for his actions.
