A 37-year-old man from Pocahontas County has been sentenced to 46 months in federal prison for his role in a methamphetamine trafficking operation.
Joshua Ray Vanreenan, of Hillsboro, West Virginia, was selling methamphetamine from his home in Pocahontas County, according to court documents and statements made in court.
Vanreenan has a history of prior firearms convictions, as well as a domestic violence protection order, which likely contributed to the severity of his sentence.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen Warner prosecuted the case on behalf of the government, while the Mountain Region Drug Task Force, a HIDTA-funded initiative, led the investigation.
Chief U.S. District Judge Thomas S. Kleeh presided over the case, which ultimately resulted in Vanreenan’s lengthy prison sentence.
Following his release from prison, Vanreenan will serve three years of supervised release, a stipulation of his sentence.
His conviction and sentencing serve as a reminder of the ongoing struggle against methamphetamine trafficking in West Virginia and the importance of vigilant law enforcement efforts.
