BOSTON – In a shocking case of disregard for the law, Julien King, 26, a resident of Framingham, Massachusetts, has pleaded guilty to a serious crime, leaving many in the community to wonder how someone with a history of domestic violence could so brazenly break the law.

King, a previously convicted domestic abuser, was found to have sold a .22 caliber bolt-action rifle and 45 pieces of .22 caliber ammunition to a confidential informant in exchange for $120 on March 29, 2019. This illicit sale was captured on recording.

The defendant was prohibited from possessing a firearm or ammunition due to a 2017 conviction of assault and battery on a family or household member. Despite this, King chose to disregard the law and engage in a high-risk transaction.

King was indicted in September 2019 and pleaded guilty to one count of possession of ammunition after a domestic violence conviction before U.S. District Judge William G. Young, who scheduled sentencing for June 23, 2020. The charge carries a sentence of up to 10 years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a fine of $250,000.

The investigation into King’s activities was a collaborative effort between the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Boston Field Division, the Framingham Police Department, and the United States Attorney’s Office. Assistant U.S. Attorney Suzanne Sullivan Jacobus is leading the prosecution of the case.
