Rensselaer County Man Sentenced to 130 Months for Cocaine Trafficking and Firearms Convictions
A 35-year-old man from Schodack, New York, has been sentenced to 130 months in prison for his involvement in cocaine trafficking and firearms offenses.
Justin Micheli, a resident of Schodack, was sentenced by United States District Judge Mae A. D’Agostino on [date] to serve 10 years and 10 months in prison.
As part of his guilty plea, Micheli admitted to possessing over 700 grams of cocaine with the intent to distribute it on March 16, 2021. He also admitted to possessing a loaded semi-automatic pistol, also known as a “ghost gun,” to protect his drugs and drug proceeds.
Micheli had three prior felony convictions for drug offenses, making him ineligible to possess firearms. The prosecution was led by Assistant United States Attorney Alexander Wentworth-Ping, with assistance from Assistant United States Attorney Ashlyn Miranda.
The case was investigated by the DEA, with Special Agent in Charge Frank A. Tarantino III leading the efforts. United States Attorney Carla B. Freedman praised the work of the DEA and the prosecution team in bringing Micheli to justice.
Micheli will also serve a 4-year term of post-imprisonment supervised release after his prison sentence. The exact date of his release is not specified.
