KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A pair of Kansas City residents have been hit with a federal indictment for their alleged role in a dangerous drug conspiracy involving fentanyl and other illicit substances.
Marcellus W. Anderson, 31, and Tyra K. M. McGee, 37, were charged by a federal grand jury for participating in the distribution of fentanyl and its analogues between December 1, 2023, and June 11, 2025. They also face charges for distributing the deadly drug fentanyl on multiple occasions.
Anderson’s involvement extends beyond fentanyl; he stands accused of distributing cocaine, methamphetamine, and firearms, with a .40 caliber Glock pistol used during one transaction as ‘protection,’ according to court documents. His prior felony conviction for receiving stolen firearms makes his current possession of a firearm illegal under federal law.
The investigation into Anderson and McGee’s activities was a collaborative effort by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Kansas City, Missouri Police Department, and the Missouri Western Interdiction and Narcotics Task Force.
Prosecuting the case is Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Jessica L. Jennings. The charges against Anderson and McGee are mere accusations and not proof of guilt; a federal trial jury will ultimately determine their innocence or guilt.
This investigation is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative aimed at dismantling cartels, transnational criminal organizations, and violent crime in communities across the United States.
