KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A gritty drug ring operating in the Kansas City area has been shattered as five individuals face federal charges for their roles in a massive conspiracy involving the sale of illegal drugs to an undercover agent. Marcellus W. Anderson, 31, Tyra K. M. McGee, 37, Virgil D. Tillman, 41, Martin A. Holloman, 40, all from Kansas City, Mo., and Ricky M. Bowie, 25, of Kansas City, Kan., are now facing serious charges.
The defendants were implicated in the distribution of fentanyl, a fentanyl analogue, heroin, methamphetamine, and cocaine between Dec. 1, 2023, and June 11, 2025. Anderson stands accused of three counts of distributing cocaine, one count of distributing methamphetamine, five counts of distributing fentanyl, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.
Anderson’s possession of a Glock, Model 27, .40 caliber pistol during one transaction raised additional charges, including being a felon in possession of a firearm. The affidavit supporting the original complaint revealed Anderson’s sales to an undercover agent, including six fentanyl transactions and one fentanyl analogue sale, with McGee participating in one of those.
The charges are merely accusations, and guilt will be determined by a federal jury. This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a Department of Justice initiative targeting illegal immigration, cartels, transnational criminal organizations, and violent crime.
Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Jessica L. Jennings is prosecuting the case, which has been investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department, and the Missouri Western Interdiction and Narcotics Task Force.
