A 55-year-old Pawtucket man is facing the consequences of his depraved actions after pleading guilty to possession of child pornography. Keith A. LaPierre, a resident of Pawtucket, RI, appeared in U.S. District Court in Providence and admitted to the charges.
The guilty plea comes after an investigation by the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Rhode Island and the Providence Police Department. LaPierre’s arrest was the result of a joint effort to combat child exploitation and bring those responsible to justice.
According to court documents, LaPierre possessed hundreds of images and videos of child sexual abuse material (CSAM). This heinous crime not only causes harm to the victims but also perpetuates a cycle of abuse and exploitation.
United States Attorney Charles C. Calenda stated, ‘The production, distribution, and possession of child pornography are serious crimes that cause irreparable harm to the victims.’ He emphasized the importance of prosecuting these cases to the fullest extent of the law.
The Providence Police Department also commended the efforts of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for their dedication to combating child exploitation. ‘This case is a clear example of the collaboration between law enforcement agencies to protect our communities and bring perpetrators to justice,’ said a spokesperson for the Providence Police Department.
LaPierre’s guilty plea is a significant step towards holding him accountable for his actions. The defendant’s sentencing will be scheduled at a later date. It is essential to note that the charges against LaPierre are merely accusations, and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
