Erie Man Charged with Child Sexual Exploitation in Pennsylvania
ERIE, Pa. – Kenneth L. Blanks, 36, a resident of Erie, Pennsylvania, has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Erie on charges of violating federal laws relating to the sexual exploitation of children.
The two-count indictment, presented to the court, accuses Blanks of receiving and possessing computer images and movies depicting prepubescent minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct.
This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice, aimed at combating the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
Assistant United States Attorney Christian A. Trabold is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government, which carries a maximum total sentence of 40 years in prison, a fine of $500,000, or both.
The investigation leading to the indictment was conducted by the Department of Homeland Security Investigations and the Erie Police Department.
An indictment is an accusation. Blanks is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
