Kevin Chambers, a 39-year-old man from Austell, Georgia, was arrested for his involvement in a significant heroin and cocaine trafficking operation in Delaware.
According to the federal indictment, Chambers conspired to distribute a kilogram of heroin and a kilogram of cocaine on or about October 26, 2015. The defendant was also accused of attempting to obtain two additional kilograms of cocaine at Harrah’s Casino in Chester on November 4, 2015.
The DEA Wilmington Resident Office – HIDTA Group 41 led the investigation into Chambers’ activities. Special Assistant United States Attorney Christopher L. de Barrena-Sarobe is prosecuting the case on behalf of the United States.
Chambers faces a maximum penalty of 20 years imprisonment, a 5-year mandatory minimum term of imprisonment, at least 3 years of supervised release, a fine of up to $1,000,000, and a $100 special assessment if convicted.
The case serves as a reminder of the ongoing struggle against the illicit trafficking of narcotics in Delaware. Law enforcement agencies continue to work tirelessly to disrupt and dismantle these operations, bringing those responsible to justice.
It is essential to note that indictments are only charges and are not evidence of guilt. A defendant is presumed to be innocent until and unless proven guilty.
The indictment against Chambers was handed down on November 12, 2015. As the case moves forward, it will be crucial to monitor the developments and see how the court proceeds.
