A Phoenix court has handed down a sentence to an Illinois man who made anti-Semitic threats to a resident of Arizona. Kevin Thomas Kerr, 51, of Waukegan, Illinois, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Douglas L. Rayes to five years of probation. Kerr has also been incarcerated for more than six months and is required to serve an additional six months of home confinement subject to electronic monitoring.
On March 6, 2020, as part of an ongoing series of harassing communications, which included anti-Semitic slurs, Kerr called the victim in Arizona and left a voicemail threatening to injure and kill him. Federal investigators arrested Kerr in Illinois, and he was transported to Arizona to face charges.
The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. William G. Voit, Assistant U.S. Attorney, District of Arizona, Phoenix, handled the prosecution.
Kerr previously pleaded guilty to Making Threats in Interstate Commerce.
