Krishna Viramontes, Child Pornography, California 2018

A 37-year-old San Francisco resident has been sentenced to 17 years in prison for conspiring to produce child pornography, extortion, and related crimes.

Krishna Viramontes, 37, of San Francisco, was sentenced to 204 months in prison by the Honorable Edward M. Chen, U.S. District Judge, on February 28, 2018.

Viramontes pleaded guilty to the charges on February 28, 2018, admitting to using a minor to produce visual depictions of sexually explicit conduct on June 24, 2016, July 25, 2016, and August 30, 2016.

He further admitted to conspiring with another person to produce sexually explicit depictions of a minor between June 24, 2016 and September 29, 2016, possessing child pornography, and transmitting threats in interstate commerce intended to extort another person.

The investigation, led by the San Francisco Police Department Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit, resulted in a search of Viramontes’ San Francisco residence, where numerous electronic devices containing images and videos of child pornography were discovered.

Viramontes was indicted on December 13, 2016 on charges of producing child pornography, conspiring to produce child pornography, possession of child pornography, and extortion through interstate communications.

He pleaded guilty to all charges and was sentenced to a 10-year period of supervised release and ordered to register with the state sex offender registration agency as required by state law.
