Albuquerque, New Mexico – Kristian Thomas, 36, was sentenced to 96 months in prison for unlawfully possessing a firearm.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Thomas was found with a revolver in his pants pocket during a search incident to arrest on March 26, 2015 at a pawnshop on Bridge SW in Albuquerque.
Thomas, a convicted felon, was not permitted to possess a firearm due to his prior convictions for armed robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, and attempted residential burglary.
On March 27, 2015, Thomas was charged by criminal complaint for being a felon in possession of a firearm.
The case was investigated by the Albuquerque office of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Albuquerque Police Department.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office prosecuted the case under a federal anti-violence initiative that targets repeat offenders for federal prosecution.
Thomas will be on supervised release for three years after completing his prison sentence.
