Tax Tiger preparer pleads guilty to tax fraud in Texas, authorities announced.
Krystle Robinson, a local woman, has admitted to aiding and assisting in the preparation of at least 50 false income tax returns.
The crime took place between 2013-2017 in Houston, Texas. Robinson prepared income tax returns for clients under her own tax service business, Tax Tigers, and later changed the business name to Tax Lions after January 2017.
As part of her plea, Robinson admitted to making false claims of business losses from sole proprietorships and inflating Schedule A deductions and education credits on the fraudulent tax returns. She also assisted in preparing a false income tax return for an undercover IRS agent.
The fraudulent tax returns resulted in a total loss of $245,995. Robinson agreed to pay restitution to the IRS.
U.S. Circuit Judge Gregg Costa accepted the plea and set sentencing for May 18. At that time, Robinson faces up to three years in prison and a possible $250,000 maximum fine. She was permitted to remain on bond pending that hearing.
The case was investigated by the IRS-Criminal Investigation, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Charles J. Escher is prosecuting the case.
Krystle Robinson, 50, was charged with aiding and assisting in the preparation of false income tax returns. She is currently free on bond and pending sentencing.
Robinson’s case is a reminder of the importance of tax compliance and the consequences of tax fraud. The IRS urges taxpayers to report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
