Justin Pedersen, a 43-year-old resident of Kuna, Idaho, has been sentenced to nine years in federal prison for the distribution of methamphetamine in the Treasure Valley region. U.S. Attorney Josh Hurwit made the announcement today.
Court records indicate that between November and December 2023, Pedersen sold a total of 309 grams of meth to another individual on four separate occasions. During the investigation, law enforcement personnel discovered an additional pound of methamphetamine hidden within the walls of his residence.
With a criminal history marked by previous felony convictions for possession of a controlled substance, witness intimidation, and domestic battery with traumatic injury, Pedersen’s sentence reflects the severity of his latest offense. “Idaho boasts strong partnerships between federal and local law enforcement,” Hurwit said, emphasizing that dangerous drug dealers will be targeted and removed from communities.
Chief of Police Ron Winegar commended the efforts of federal partners and the Boise Police Department, stating that those who import and sell illegal substances will face consequences. Following his prison term, Pedersen is to serve three years of supervised release, as ordered by Senior U.S. District Judge B. Lynn Winmill.
The case against Pedersen was a result of collaborative work between the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Boise Police Department, and the Boise Area Narcotics and Drug Interdiction Team. Assistant U.S. Attorney Erin Blackadar prosecuted the case successfully.
