PHOENIX, Ariz. – In a shocking turn of events, Kyle Andrew Jose, a 27-year-old man from Bapchule, Arizona, was sentenced to nearly 8 years in prison for his role in a second-degree murder case. On March 1, 2020, Jose was driving his car with his co-defendant, Brent Edwin Justin, as the front seat passenger when the crime occurred.

According to the investigation, Jose’s co-defendant, Brent Edwin Justin, shot and killed the victim while Jose was driving. After the shooting, Jose assisted his co-defendant in trying to evade apprehension for the crime. He also disposed of the rifle used in the shooting. The Gila River Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation conducted the investigation in this case.

The case has left many in the community shaken. “The fact that Jose was willing to aid his co-defendant in evading justice is a clear indication of his involvement in the crime,” said a spokesperson for the Gila River Police Department.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Raynette Logan handled the prosecution of this case. Logan expressed her satisfaction with the outcome, stating, “We are pleased that justice has been served in this case. Kyle Andrew Jose’s actions were a clear betrayal of public trust, and he must face the consequences of his actions.”

Jose, an enrolled member of the Gila River Indian Community, pleaded guilty to Accessory After the Fact to Second Degree Murder. His sentence includes nearly 8 years in prison, followed by three years of supervised release. The case number is CR-20-00557-PHX-JJT, and the release number is 2021- 052_Jose.
