A disturbing trend of firearms trafficking is on the rise in West Virginia, and the Grimy Times is committed to exposing the truth behind these crimes.
Kyle Lee Harder, a 23-year-old man from Shenandoah Junction, West Virginia, has admitted to his role in a firearms trafficking conspiracy, United States Attorney William Ihlenfeld announced.
Harder, a person prohibited from having firearms, pleaded guilty today to one count of ‘Unlawful Possession of Firearm.’ According to court records, Harder admitted to having a 9mm pistol in April 2021 in Jefferson County.
The charge carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed will be based upon the seriousness of the offense and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Lara Omps-Botteicher is prosecuting the case on behalf of the government. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives investigated the case.
The courtroom proceedings took place before U.S. Magistrate Judge Robert W. Trumble.
Harder faces a significant amount of time in prison if convicted, and the Grimy Times will continue to follow this case and bring you updates as more information becomes available.
