Kyung Heo Sentenced for Lewisville Bank Robberies

SHERMAN, Texas – The grim saga of Kyung Heo’s bank heists has reached its conclusion as the Lewisville man faces federal prison for his string of high-stakes robberies.

Heo, 31, pleaded guilty to bank robbery and was sentenced to a staggering 71 months in federal prison by U.S. District Judge Amos L. Mazzant, III, on September 30, 2025. The sentence comes after Heo’s plea for the November 18, 2022, Comerica Bank heist in Lewisville, where he robbed tellers at gunpoint.

According to court documents, Heo entered the Comerica Bank on State Highway 121, demanded cashier’s checks, and when refused, resorted to violence. Pointing a handgun at bank staff, he pushed the manager aside and made off with cash, leaving his violent footprint in the financial district of Lewisville.

But Heo’s spree didn’t end there. On April 6, 2023, he struck again at American National Bank on Cross Timbers Road in Flower Mound, this time leaping over the counter and making off with $18,943. His brazen act was thwarted only by quick-thinking law enforcement who found the cash-filled bag in a drainage ditch nearby.

The investigation took a turn when surveillance footage from both robberies linked Heo to the June 6, 2023, Citizen’s National Bank heist in Weatherford. In the Northern District of Texas, Heo was convicted for this crime and sentenced to an additional 57 months, to run concurrently with his Eastern District sentence.

This case, a testament to the determination of law enforcement, was investigated by the FBI, Lewisville Police Department, and Flower Mound Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Matthew T. Johnson prosecuted Heo, ensuring justice for the victims of these bold bank robberies.
