Lake Forest Park Clerk Jackkee Bormann-Zweekhorst Indicted for $350k Embezzlement

Former Lake Forest Park Water District Office Manager Jackkee Bormann-Zweekhorst, 40, is facing a severe legal battle as she stands accused of embezzling over $350,000 from the small water district. This staggering amount was reportedly siphoned away between 2004 and 2011 through a series of fraudulent schemes.

Bormann-Zweekhorst’s alleged misdeeds were detailed in an indictment charging her with fifteen counts of wire fraud. She is set to appear before U.S. District Court in Seattle today at 2:30 PM. The charges against her stem from her role in the submission of bills to King County for reimbursement, where she was entrusted with preparing vouchers and supporting documents.

According to the indictment, Bormann-Zweekhorst falsified time cards, leading to payments of over $100,000 for work her children were supposed to perform but never did. She also misused the water district credit card to pay for personal expenses such as college tuition, hot tub parts and service, boating equipment, and fishing gear. The total amount on this card exceeded $90,000.

Bormann-Zweekhorst is further accused of claiming reimbursement for over $70,000 worth of personal items, including those never purchased, by falsely labeling them as work-related expenses. Many of the receipts submitted were either fabricated or supported purchases that did not occur.

Wire fraud carries a severe penalty, with up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. The charges are merely allegations, and Bormann-Zweekhorst is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

The investigation into this case is being conducted by the FBI and the Lake Forest Park Police Department, with significant assistance from the Washington State Auditor’s Office. Assistant United States Attorney Matthew Diggs is handling the prosecution of the case.
