A Bridgeport man has been indicted for unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. Lamar Dwight Blake, 46, faces a maximum term of imprisonment of 15 years if convicted.
According to a grand jury indictment, Blake possessed a loaded Glock .40 caliber handgun with an extended magazine on August 6, 2023.
Blake’s criminal history includes felony convictions in Connecticut for possession of narcotics with intent to sell, attempted assault in the second degree, possession of narcotics, and criminal possession of a firearm.
Blake was arrested on February 26, 2023, and appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge S. Dave Vatti in Bridgeport, where he entered a plea of not guilty to the charge.
Blake is currently released on a $100,000 bond pending trial.
The case is being investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) and the Bridgeport Police Department. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Sean P. Mahard.
This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), the centerpiece of the government’s violent crime reduction efforts.
