Larry Dean Weir, Methamphetamine Distribution, Iowa 2021

Davenport, Iowa – A 40-year-old Davenport man has been sentenced to federal prison for his role in a methamphetamine distribution ring.

Larry Dean Weir, 40, of Davenport, was sentenced on Wednesday, April 21, 2021, to 120 months in prison for possession with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine, announced Acting United States Attorney Richard D. Westphal.

Weir was ordered to serve five years of supervised release to follow his prison term and pay $100 to the Crime Victims’ Fund.

The investigation into Weir’s activities began in September 2019, when law enforcement investigated a suspicious vehicle believed to belong to Weir. Officers located Weir at a hotel in Bettendorf and obtained a search warrant for his room, where they located 111.30 grams of methamphetamine and a digital scale underneath a mattress.

A female acquaintance of Weir’s admitted receiving methamphetamine from him earlier that day. Weir admitted he possessed the methamphetamine with the intent to distribute some or all of it to other persons.

This matter was investigated by the Bettendorf Police Department and the case was prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa.

Weir’s prison term will be followed by five years of supervised release. He was also ordered to pay $100 to the Crime Victims’ Fund.

The sentence was announced by Acting United States Attorney Richard D. Westphal.
