Law enforcement officials have made an arrest in what is being termed as a brazen armed heist of an armored truck outside a Las Vegas bank. Devonte Devon Jackson, the alleged perpetrator, has been indicted for the crime and is currently facing federal charges.
Jackson’s initial court appearance was held on Thursday, where he faced one-count of interference with commerce by robbery and one-count of brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence. The trial is set to begin on October 20, 2025.
Court documents and statements reveal that the incident took place on July 16, 2025, when Jackson allegedly threatened a black handgun and made off with approximately $327,620 from an armored truck parked outside a Las Vegas bank. He was apprehended by Texas State Troopers in Centerville, Texas, on July 29, 2025, and extradited to face the federal charges.
Should Jackson be convicted, he could face up to 20 years in prison for the robbery charge, with an additional seven-year mandatory sentence for brandishing a firearm. The final sentence will depend on the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other factors to be considered by the federal district court judge.
The investigation leading to Jackson’s arrest was a collaborative effort between the FBI and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Tina M. Snellings is handling the prosecution of the case. However, it is important to remember that an indictment is merely an allegation, and Jackson is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
United States Attorney Sigal Chattah for the District of Nevada and Acting Special Agent in Charge Jeremy Schwartz for the FBI Las Vegas Division have both confirmed the charges against Jackson. This case serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing threat posed by organized crime and the dedication of federal agencies to bring such criminals to justice.
