Lawrence Jordan Sentenced

A previously convicted felon from the District of Columbia has been sentenced to 27 months in prison for being in illegal possession of a firearm. Lawrence Jordan, 44, pleaded guilty on June 17, 2025, to unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon.

According to court documents, Jordan was arrested on Nov. 23, 2023, at 6:16 a.m., after MPD officers responded to the 1300 block of H Street NE for a report of aggressive panhandling. One of the officers recognized Jordan as wanted in connection with an indecent exposure offense a week earlier. Jordan was placed under arrest for lewd, indecent, and obscene acts.

During a search at the First District, officers recovered a Smith & Wesson 9mm semi-automatic firearm, loaded with one round in the chamber and eight rounds in the magazine, underneath Jordan’s knee brace. This discovery led to the charge of unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon.

Jordan previously was convicted in 2009 in Maryland for second degree assault, fleeing, and driving while revoked and sentenced to 18 months in prison. He also has a 2010 conviction in Virginia for being a felon in possession of a firearm and 35 prior arrests. U.S. District Court Judge Randolph D. Moss ordered Jordan to serve three years of supervised release in addition to the 27-month prison term.

The case was investigated by the ATF and MPD, and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Joshua Gold. Joining the announcement of the sentencing were Special Agent in Charge Anthony Spotswood of the Washington Field Division of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), and Chief Pamela A. Smith of the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD).

U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro announced the sentencing, stating that Jordan’s actions demonstrate a clear disregard for the law. The sentence of 27 months in prison reflects the seriousness of the offense and the need to protect the community from individuals who would seek to possess firearms illegally.

The sentencing of Lawrence Jordan serves as a reminder of the importance of enforcing laws related to firearm possession, particularly for individuals with a history of convictions. It also highlights the collaborative efforts of law enforcement agencies in investigating and prosecuting such cases.
