An expected cold wave and heavy snow have turned the rugged terrain into a deadly trap, with temperatures plummeting and drifts reaching 28 miles deep. Aerial searches have spotted a sign scrawled on a bed sheet, reading ‘Prettyman party,’ but there’s no sign of the missing individuals. The group consists of Mrs. Lee Prettyman, the wife of a mine operator, her cook Doris Dunn, Mr. and Mrs. James Poe, and Fred Miller.
