Lexington County’s Keisha Carroll Banks Sentenced for Wire Fraud

COLUMBIA, S.C. — In a stunning reversal of fortune, Keisha Carroll Banks, 52, of Lexington County, has been sentenced to 14 months in federal prison for wire fraud. The sentence comes after Banks pleaded guilty to siphoning funds from Ridgeway Manor Health Care.

Banks, an employee at the facility, had access to an account containing money meant for residents. Her greed led her to divert some of these funds for personal gain, with some residents classified as vulnerable adults suffering the consequences.

United States District Judge Cameron McGowan Currie imposed the 14-month sentence, followed by a three-year term of court-ordered supervision. Parole is non-existent within the federal system. Banks was also ordered to pay $58,544.61 in restitution.

The investigation into this case was a joint effort between the FBI Columbia Field Office and the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office Vulnerable Adult Medicaid Provider Fraud Unit. Assistant U.S. Attorney John C. Potterfield handled the prosecution.

This sentence sends a strong message that financial misdeeds, even within healthcare settings, will not be tolerated. Banks’ actions have left a trail of devastation for those who trusted her to care for their loved ones.
