A 30-year-old Lima man has been charged with child pornography crimes, according to the United States Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio.
Michael S. Dockery was charged with receiving, distributing, and possessing visual depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct, after an investigation by the Lima Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
The indictment alleges that from February 10, 2012, to June 1, 2012, Dockery knowingly received and distributed, by computer, numerous computer files containing visual depictions of real minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.
Images of child pornography were also found on Dockery’s HP Compaq desktop computer, Dell laptop computer, and six computer thumb drives on June 5, 2012, as well as on his HP Probook 4530s laptop on February 4, 2013, and on an additional computer thumb drive on February 22, 2013, according to the indictment.
If convicted, the sentence in this case will be determined by the court after consideration of the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, which depend on a number of factors unique to each case, including the defendant’s prior criminal record, if any, the defendant’s role in the offense, and the unique characteristics of the violation.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Carol M. Skutnik.
An indictment is only a charge and is not evidence of guilt. A defendant is entitled to a fair trial in which it will be the government’s burden to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
