Lincoln Man Gets 10-Year Sentence for Meth Distribution

Former Lincoln resident Carlos Aldalberto Hernandez, Jr., 31, was handed a severe sentence today as he stood before the federal bench for his role in the illegal distribution of methamphetamine. United States Attorney Lesley A. Woods announced that Hernandez was sentenced on July 24, 2025, to 120 months’ imprisonment for conspiracy to distribute at least 500 grams of the dangerous substance.

The court’s decision followed a meticulous investigation by the Lincoln/Lancaster County Drug Task Force. In April and May of 2024, a confidential informant conducted four purchases from Hernandez’s housemates in Lincoln, with each transaction ranging from a quarter ounce to half an ounce of methamphetamine.

The last purchase was made on May 6, 2024, leading to the execution of a search warrant at Hernandez’s residence. During this raid, investigators uncovered a cardboard box containing 14 baggies of methamphetamine in Hernandez’s bedroom, with additional amounts scattered throughout the house. The total haul was approximately 610 grams, with three of the bags analyzed and confirmed to contain at least 170 grams of pure methamphetamine.

A cooperating witness revealed that Hernandez had been living at the house for roughly six weeks prior to the search, serving as a supplier to other residents. After his release from prison, Hernandez will serve a five-year term of supervised release, with no parole available in the federal system.

United States District Judge Susan M. Bazis presided over the sentencing hearing, which concluded a case that has rattled the community and underscored the ongoing threat posed by methamphetamine distribution in Nebraska.

The sentence handed down to Hernandez serves as a stark reminder of the consequences faced by those who engage in drug trafficking. As the justice system delivers its verdict, Lincoln’s neighborhoods remain vigilant against the scourge of illegal drugs.
