A Lincoln man is facing the consequences for his own brand of reckless abandon, as he’s been locked up for possessing ammunition as a convicted felon.
Leonard G. Pfarr, 33, of Lincoln, Nebraska, was sentenced to 16 months’ imprisonment by Senior United States District Judge John M. Gerrard on May 9, 2024, after being convicted of possession of ammunition by a felon.
The case against Pfarr began when officers with the Lincoln Police Department arrested him on active state arrest warrants. A pat search conducted incident to the arrest turned up a .40 caliber Smith and Wesson round in Pfarr’s pocket, which is a clear indication that he was up to no good.
What’s even more disturbing is that Pfarr has been convicted on three different occasions of crimes punishable by more than one year of imprisonment, making him a repeat offender. This only adds to the severity of his actions.
The recovered ammunition was manufactured outside of the United States and transported in interstate commerce to Nebraska, making it a federal offense. This case was a joint effort between the Lincoln Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, who worked together to bring Pfarr to justice.
After serving his 16-month sentence, Pfarr will be released and will begin a 3-year term of supervised release, which will be a constant reminder that he’s still got a long way to go in terms of rehabilitation.
The fact that Pfarr chose to possess ammunition as a convicted felon is a clear indication that he’s a threat to himself and others. It’s a reckless and irresponsible decision, and one that’s landed him in the slammer.
