Lincoln Man Sentenced for Guns, Probation

Law enforcement has once again proven its might, as Cody M. Lacefield, a 22-year-old Lincoln resident, was sentenced to three years of probation and 90 days of home confinement for misprision of a felony. The charges stem from an incident involving firearms and marijuana possession, a deadly combination that landed Lacefield behind bars.

The grim saga began when photographs surfaced on Facebook, showing Lacefield’s friends/associates brandishing firearms belonging to him. Tragically, these individuals were all marijuana users, which made their possession of firearms illegal under federal law. When confronted by Lincoln Police Department officers, Lacefield admitted that one friend had handled his guns but claimed ignorance regarding the friend’s felony status.

Lacefield’s deceit didn’t end there. He failed to disclose that two other marijuana-using associates had also laid hands on his firearms. The U.S. Attorney, Deborah R. Gilg, was swift in her response, ordering Lacefield to pay a $100 special assessment as part of his sentence.

This is not the first time Lincoln has faced such a situation. The Lincoln Police Department has been at the forefront of this investigation, ensuring justice is served for all involved. Lacefield’s case serves as a stark reminder of the dangers associated with illegal firearm possession and the responsibility of individuals who come into contact with such weapons.

As Lacefield begins his probationary term, it remains to be seen whether he will learn from his mistakes or continue down the same dark path. For now, one thing is certain: his sentence sends a clear message that misprision of a felony is no laughing matter.

The community can take solace in knowing that law enforcement is vigilant and determined to protect citizens from such dangerous activities. Lacefield’s case will undoubtedly serve as a cautionary tale for anyone considering similar actions in the future.
