Live Nation-Ticketmaster, Monopolization, Indiana 2024
In a shocking turn of events, the Attorneys General of Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Nebraska, New Mexico, South Dakota, Utah, and Vermont have joined a civil antitrust lawsuit filed by the federal government against Live Nation-Ticketmaster for monopolizing markets across the live concert industry.
The amended complaint, filed in the Southern District of New York, alleges that Live Nation-Ticketmaster engaged in an anticompetitive course of conduct in markets across the live entertainment industry.
The Justice Department, joined by 40 co-plaintiffs, claims that Live Nation-Ticketmaster has abused its market power to stifle competition and limit consumer choice in the live concert industry.
Live Nation-Ticketmaster, a leading concert promoter and ticketing service, has been accused of using its dominance to charge exorbitant fees to consumers and limit access to tickets for smaller venues and independent promoters.
The lawsuit seeks to block Live Nation-Ticketmaster’s anticompetitive conduct and restore competition in the live concert industry.
A spokesperson for Live Nation-Ticketmaster declined to comment on the lawsuit, citing the ongoing nature of the litigation.
