Glenn Tisdall, Domestic Assault, South Dakota 2023

Glenn Tisdall, 48, sentenced to 15 months for assaulting his spouse and a minor.

Brendan V. Johnson, United States Attorney for the District of South Dakota, announced that Glenn Tisdall, a 48-year-old man from Lower Brule, South Dakota, was sentenced to 15 months in custody for assaulting his spouse and a minor.

On July 1, 2014, U.S. District Judge Roberto A. Lange handed down the sentence, which is to run concurrently with a 12-month sentence for the assault of the minor. Tisdall was also ordered to serve two years of supervised release and pay a $125 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.

Tisdall was indicted by a federal grand jury on January 15, 2014, and pleaded guilty on April 10, 2014. The conviction stems from an incident on October 24, 2013, when Tisdall became upset with his spouse and assaulted her, as well as a minor who came to her aid.

According to court documents, Tisdall grabbed his spouse by the hair and slapped her in the face. He then grabbed the minor’s shirt and jaw, pushing him against a bathroom door frame. Tisdall became increasingly angry, grabbing his wife by the ears and head-butting her in the forehead and face. He also pulled a multi-tool from his pocket and held it under her chin, threatening her.

In an attempt to protect his mother, the minor grabbed Tisdall around the waist and tried to pull him off. Tisdall then turned to the minor, grabbed him around the neck with both hands, and dug his nails into his neck while squeezing. The two victims were eventually able to get away.

The case was investigated by the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Lower Brule Law Enforcement Agency, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Meghan N. Dilges prosecuted the case. Tisdall was immediately turned over to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service after sentencing.
