Luis Javier Correa-Figueroa, a.k.a. ‘Barney/Gordo,’ is behind bars for life after a federal judge in Puerto Rico slammed him with a life sentence for a violent, armed confrontation with federal agents during a planned cocaine exchange. Instead of surrendering, Correa-Figueroa slammed the gas and attempted to flee.

Correa-Figueroa plowed through the parking lot, deliberately ramming three government vehicles and three civilian cars, all in a desperate bid to escape. The assault wasn’t just reckless—it was calculated. Federal prosecutors proved he knowingly targeted federal agents, resulting in eight counts of assault upon federal officers, three counts of damaging U.S. government property, and multiple firearm charges.
The investigation was a joint operation spearheaded by the DEA, FBI, and Puerto Rico Police Department Strike Force Unit—agencies that have intensified efforts to dismantle violent drug networks across the island. Correa-Figueroa, already a convicted felon, was prohibited from possessing any firearm, let alone a machinegun. His illegal arsenal and intent to distribute cocaine triggered the most severe penalties under federal law.
