Luling Man Charged in Child Sex Exploitation Case
A 20-year-old man from Luling, Louisiana, has been charged with possessing images and videos that depict the sexual exploitation of children under the age of 12, authorities announced Friday.
According to the indictment, DOMINIC ROMANO faces a maximum term of imprisonment of 20 years, a lifetime of supervised release, a $250,000 fine, and can be required to register as a sex offender.
The charges were brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006.
U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans said that an indictment is merely a charge and that the guilt of the defendant must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
Evans praised the work of the Federal Bureau of Investigation in investigating this matter, saying that they have been instrumental in bringing child sex offenders to justice.
Assistant United States Attorney Jordan Ginsberg is in charge of the prosecution. The case is part of a larger effort to identify and rescue victims of child sex abuse and exploitation.
Project Safe Childhood has been a successful initiative in combating child sex crimes, and it continues to be a top priority for law enforcement agencies across the country.
ROMANO’s arrest is a reminder that child sex crimes will not be tolerated, and those who commit such heinous acts will be brought to justice.
