Maine Man Sentenced to 13 Years for Child Sex Exploitation

BOSTON – A grim reminder of online predators struck close to home as Patrick Plummer, 31, from Parsonsfield, Maine, was sentenced today in Boston federal court for his despicable acts. Plummer faced a 13-year sentence and five years of supervised release after pleaded guilty to multiple counts involving child exploitation.

In September 2022, the court heard how Plummer planned to meet a 13-year-old girl for sex and possessed an extensive collection of child sexual abuse material (CSAM). He admitted targeting ten young girls and shared graphic images with others. United States Attorney Rachael S. Rollins emphasized the importance of protecting children’s innocence and wellbeing.

Plummer, caught by the FBI after posing as a 19-year-old on Kik Messenger, was arrested in Georgetown, Mass., with devices harboring over 7,000 images and 74 videos of CSAM, including the sexual torture of infants. His sinister behavior and threats to minors were met with severe justice.

Joseph R. Bonavolonta, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Boston Division, highlighted the commitment to holding predators accountable and ensuring child safety. The sentence is a stark reminder of the consequences for those who exploit children online.

The investigation involved multiple agencies, including the Salisbury and Newbury Police Departments, and was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Meghan C. Cleary and J. Mackenzie Duane. Plummer’s case serves as a critical example of Project Safe Childho”’s efforts to combat child exploitation.

“This sentence results in one less predator able to harm our children,” Rollins concluded, underscoring the community’s vigilance against such threats.
