LOWER BRULE, S.D. – In a shocking turn of events, Majestic Byington, a 23-year-old woman from Lower Brule, South Dakota, has been charged with assaulting a federal officer. The incident occurred on April 15, 2016, when Byington allegedly assaulted, resisted, opposed, impeded, intimidated, and interfered with a Special Agent from the Federal Bureau of Investigation while the agent was engaged in the performance of his official duties.

The indictment, which was handed down on August 16, 2016, alleges that Byington’s actions were a direct threat to the safety and well-being of the federal officer. The charge is merely an accusation, and Byington is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
