KANSAS CITY, Mo. – On July 16, 2025, Makih A. Hall, 21, and Lazaro Medina-Lopez, 29, were charged with conspiracy to commit Hobbs Act robbery, Hobbs Act robbery, and two counts of bank robbery, in a now-unsealed federal indictment filed in U.S. District Court in Kansas City, Missouri.
Hall is also charged individually in a separate count for attempted Hobbs Act robbery, with Medina-Lopez also charged individually in a separate count for attempted bank robbery.
The indictment alleges that between June 1, 2024, and June 14, 2024, Hall and Medina-Lopez jointly robbed, or attempted to rob, various banks, credit unions, and businesses across the Kansas City area.
The charges contained in this indictment are simply accusations, and not evidence of guilt. Evidence supporting the charges must be presented to a federal trial jury, whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
Under federal statutes, if convicted, each count of conspiracy, Hobbs Act robbery, bank robbery, or attempted bank robbery, carries a maximum sentence of 20 years imprisonment in federal prison without parole.
This case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeffrey Q. McCarther. It was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department, and the Independence, Missouri Police Department.
Makih A. Hall, 21, of Kansas City, Missouri, was charged with conspiracy to commit Hobbs Act robbery, Hobbs Act robbery, two counts of bank robbery, attempted Hobbs Act robbery, and attempted bank robbery.
Defendant Makih A. Hall faces up to 20 years imprisonment without parole on each count if convicted.
